Methodology
Scope. One page of one domain, fetched once as the server sends it. JavaScript is not executed. Every report names its scope, the rule set it was scored under (currently 2026.09.1), the HTTP status and size of what was read, and when the evidence was observed.
Dimensions and weights
| Dimension | What it answers | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Search presence | Can a search engine crawl, parse and rank the page? | 22 |
| Named by AI | Can an AI assistant read the page and name the brand in an answer? | 20 |
| How you’re listed | Is the business identity consistent where it appears? Excluded — shown as “Not applicable” — when there is no physical-presence evidence. | 18 |
| Depth of your pages | Do pages answer real questions and show they are current? | 15 |
| Profiles that match | Do external profiles corroborate the same entity? | 13 |
| Brand awareness | Is the brand recognised beyond its own website? Proxy signals only. | 12 |
Each dimension is a set of deterministic checks. A check records what was observed — the tag, the text, the attribute — so the number can be traced to the page. The dimension score is the share of points earned over the applicable checks; the overall score is the weighted mean of the applicable dimensions.
Not applicable is not zero
If a dimension cannot apply — no physical-presence signals for local listing — it is excluded and labelled, and the overall score is normalised over the dimensions that remain with their exact weights. A missing source is reported as not collected, never as a failing of the site.
Proxies, stated as proxies
Brand awareness cannot be measured from one page. What is scored are proxy signals visible on the page: brand name in the title and social metadata, press or review structured data, consistent identity. Whether a site runs analytics is reported but earns no points — it is internal measurement, not external recognition.
Versioning
The rule set has a version; a change in checks, weights or applicability rules bumps it. A re-check can only verify an action against a report scored under a compatible rule set, so scores from different rule sets are never compared as if the rules had not moved.
What is not measured
Rankings, traffic, backlinks, reviews, or whether any assistant currently recommends the business. re:score measures the page's readiness to be found and understood, and proves changes to that page.
